My relationship with photographic images begins "after" the moment of capture, as I use digital applications to illustrate and illuminate those elements most meaningful to me. My photography is influenced by a 40 year career in mixed-media textiles, as I find myself drawn to the texture, layers, and dimensions captured within each photographic frame.
"Symbiotics" is an important theme within some of my work: Fictional insects are created using digitally borrowed elements from photos of real-life flora. This altered state of reality, made possible by technology, is best described as "my own truth" as an artist.
The vistas and historical details of the Utah landscape, as well as the rich visual history of its indigenous peoples, play a large part in my creative work. Several galleries within this site showcase photographs taken over 8 years of travel and discovery in magnificent settings. Photography has allowed me to communicate how I see the world in an entirely new way.
